Cricket in the rain
Mumbai is one of the few places that plays serious cricket in the monsoon. The Kanga Cricket League, founded in 1948, is played from July to October on the city's maidans, in the rain. Monsoon months in Mumbai bring more than 500 mm in June and about 920 mm in July, around 2,500 mm a year in total, with afternoon humidity of 74 to 81%.
A monsoon cricket kit has to dry on the body between overs and still look sharp after a muddy day. That rules out heavy shirts and printed-on numbers that lift when wet.

Office cricket: the Times Shield and beyond
The Times Cricket Shield is the MCA's corporate tournament, played in divisions A to F, and the MCA describes it as the oldest and largest corporate tournament in Asia. Since 2021-22 the MCA Corporate Trophy has added a G Division for teams outside the Shield. Office teams usually order 15 to 20 jerseys with the company name on the chest, a GST invoice, and mixed men's and women's sizes.

Box cricket and the maidans
Azad Maidan has 22 cricket pitches and hosts many matches at once, and the city's school cricket runs through the MSSA's Harris Shield (under 16) and Giles Shield (under 14), which in 2025-26 started on 27 October and 1 December. Box cricket on turfs is the other half of Mumbai cricket: short games, small squads of 8 to 10, and often a kit needed for one league only.
A box cricket team of 8 pays ₹509 a jersey, ₹4,072 in total, before GST and shipping. Since names and numbers are free, a one-off league kit costs no more than a season kit.
Football in five divisions
The Mumbai Football Association runs the Mumbai Football League in five divisions with more than 300 teams, topped by the Mumbai Premier League, and Mumbai Football Arena in Andheri is a main venue. For a league club, the usual order is home and away jerseys with shorts, numbered front and back.
