3,750 mm of rain changes the brief
Mangaluru gets about 3,750 mm of rain a year, and about 95% of it falls between May and September. June and July bring more than a metre each, and humidity peaks at about 93% in July. Highs are around 34 °C in April. No jersey stays dry in that, so the questions are how fast it dries, whether the print survives, and whether the colours still look right after a season of washing.

The Independence Day Cup and school football
Nehru Maidan is the city's main ground for domestic football and for many inter-school and inter-college tournaments. Every year around 15 August, the Dakshina Kannada District Football Association runs the Independence Day Cup, with schools and colleges from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kodagu. One edition drew 231 teams. Mangala Stadium also has a Sports Authority of India training centre.
For an August tournament, a school should message us by mid-July. A school entering several age groups can put them all in one order: three squads of 16 is 48 pieces, which prices each jersey at ₹449.

College cricket and kabaddi
Mangalore University runs its zone inter-collegiate cricket tournament in late April and early May, and it hosted and won the All India Inter-University men's kabaddi tournament in November 2023. Cricket teams usually want full sleeves for some players; kabaddi teams want slim, short-sleeve tops with large numbers. Both go in the same order if one college is ordering for both.
Kambala season and the dry months
From about November to April, the coast's calendar is full of kambala, the buffalo races, which are a festival of their own rather than a team sport. With about 95% of the year's rain falling from May to September, the dry months are the easier season for outdoor fixtures.
