What is sublimation printing, and why does it last?

How sublimation actually works, and why it is the right choice for custom jerseys that get worn and washed hard.

In short: sublimation uses heat to dye your design into the fabric, not onto it. So the colour, crest, names and numbers become part of the cloth and never crack, peel or fade.

How it works

Your design is printed onto transfer paper, then heat and pressure turn the ink into gas that bonds with the polyester fibres. The result is a fabric where the design is permanent and the surface stays soft, with no heavy layer sitting on top.

Will the colours fade after washing?

No. Because the dye is in the fabric, colours stay vivid wash after wash when cared for normally.

Can you print our exact logo and colours?

Yes, send your crest and colours and we match them in the design.

How is sublimation different from screen printing?

Screen printing lays ink on top of the fabric; sublimation turns the design into a gas that bonds inside the fibre. The result is unlimited colours, no added weight, and a print that never cracks or peels.

Can sublimation print photos and gradients?

Yes. Because it is a full-colour digital process, photographic images, gradients, all-over patterns and fine detail all reproduce cleanly, edge to edge.

Does sublimation work on any fabric colour?

It works best on white or light polyester because the dye is translucent. For dark kits we build the colour into the fabric rather than printing onto an existing dark garment.

How durable is a sublimated print?

It lasts the life of the garment. Nothing sits on the surface to wear off, so it survives repeated washing and match use without fading.
