What should you check before choosing a custom jersey maker?

Seven questions to ask any jersey maker before you pay, why each one matters, and how we answer them ourselves.

Short answer: check seven things: whether they own the factory, whether you get a mockup before paying, the minimum order, the print method and fabric GSM, the size range, a clear delivery time, and real reviews. Ask for each in writing before you commit.

Quick answer

How do I choose a custom jersey maker?

Ask who actually makes the jerseys, whether you see a mockup before paying, what the minimum order is, which print method and fabric weight they use, what sizes they cover, how long delivery takes, and where you can read real reviews. A good maker answers all seven clearly and puts the price in writing. Below is each question with what we offer at Xipid, so you can compare like for like. More about us on our about page.

1. Factory or reseller?

Some sellers take your order and pass it to a factory, adding their margin and a step where details can get lost. A maker with its own factory controls the fabric, print, stitching and timeline. Ask where the jerseys are printed and stitched.

At Xipid: we run our own sublimation unit in Tirupur, so pricing is factory-direct with no middleman.

2. Do you see a mockup before you pay?

You should see the full design, front and back, with names and numbers, before paying anything. Paying first leaves you with little say if the design is wrong.

At Xipid: a free mockup within 24 hours, revised until you approve, and you pay only after approving.

3. What is the minimum order?

Minimum orders force small teams to over-order and make it hard to add a late player. Ask the minimum, and whether a later top-up is possible.

At Xipid: no minimum order. One jersey or five hundred, at the same quality.

4. Which print method and fabric?

Ask whether the design is sublimated into the fabric or printed on top, and the fabric weight in GSM. Sublimation does not crack or peel; prints and vinyl on the surface can. GSM tells you how light or heavy the jersey will feel.

At Xipid: every jersey is fully sublimated. Classic fabric is 160 GSM, Jacquard 160 GSM and Signature 140 to 190 GSM. See sublimation vs screen printing and the jersey fabrics guide, or order a fabric swatch for ₹500, shipping and GST included.

5. Which sizes, and can you mix them?

A team usually needs a spread of sizes, sometimes men's, women's and kids' in one order. Check the range and whether mixed sizes cost the same.

At Xipid: men S to 3XL, women XS to 2XL and kids 24 to 34, mixed freely in one order at the same price. The size planning guide helps you collect them.

6. How long is delivery, and from when?

Ask when the clock starts (order, approval or payment) and whether there is a rush option. A vague answer is a warning sign before a tournament.

At Xipid: about 4 days to dispatch pan-India after you approve, with a 2-day rush option at a 20% surcharge, confirmed for your order.

7. Where are the reviews?

Look for reviews on a public platform you can check yourself, such as Google, rather than only quotes on the seller's own site. Read the low ratings too, and see how the maker replied.

At Xipid: rated 4.9 across 114 Google reviews for our three Bangalore stores.

Put us to the test

Send your colours, logo and squad size on WhatsApp and judge us on the mockup. It is free, arrives within 24 hours, and you pay only if you approve.

Should I pay before seeing the jersey design?+
Ideally no. Ask for a mockup first. At Xipid you get a free mockup within 24 hours and pay only after you approve it.
What GSM is good for a sports jersey?+
It depends on the sport. Xipid's Classic and Jacquard jerseys are 160 GSM, Airlite 140 is lighter for running, and the 190 GSM Signature knits feel denser and more premium.
Is it better to buy from a factory or a reseller?+
A maker with its own factory controls fabric, print and timeline and has no middleman margin. Xipid prints and stitches in its own Tirupur factory.
Does Xipid have a minimum order?+
No. You can order a single jersey, and the price per piece drops from 6 pieces.
