Best fabric for cricket jerseys in US summer heat

US cricket is mostly a summer sport, from humid East Coast afternoons to hot days in Texas and California. Here is which knit to pick, and what each costs.

Short answer: for most US cricket teams, pick Classic Dotknit 160 (included) for hot, humid afternoons and Signature Dotknit 190 or Long Mesh 160 (+$14, anti-microbial, UPF 50+) for full tournament days in the sun.

What is the best fabric for a cricket jersey?

A light, breathable polyester knit of around 160 GSM, fully sublimated. For hot and humid US summers, an open knit such as Dotknit breathes better than plain fabric. For long tournament days in direct sun, the Signature collection adds a UPF 50+ treatment.

Humid heat

On the East Coast and in the South, humidity keeps sweat on the skin. Pick an open knit: Dotknit's fine pores and Long Mesh's larger channels move more air than a plain surface. Light colors absorb less heat than navy or black, so a lighter body with dark trim is a cooler choice.

Dry heat and full sun

In Texas, Arizona and California the sun is the problem. Signature fabric's UPF 50+ treatment helps over a long tournament day, and full sleeves (+$4) keep the sun off the arms.

Day-night games

A game that starts in the afternoon and ends under lights needs a breathable knit for the heat and full sleeves for the cooler evening. Each player can choose their own sleeve in the same order.

Why sublimation matters

Sublimation dyes the design into the fabric, so there is no heavy print layer to block airflow, crack or peel. Read how sublimation printing works.

Care

Wash cold and inside out, skip fabric softener and hang to dry. Softener coats performance fabric and slows drying. The full routine is in how to wash sublimated jerseys.
