How to get a kit sponsor for your club

Most grassroots kits are paid for by a local business in return for its logo on the shirt. Here is who to ask, what to offer and how to make the pitch easy to say yes to.

✔ No minimum order✔ Free 24-hour mockup✔ Prices include VAT✔ Every kit fully sublimated
Short answer: make a list of local businesses with a link to your players and parents, work out what the kit costs, offer the front of the shirt plus social media and matchday mentions, and send a one-page pitch with a mockup of the kit wearing their logo.

Who to ask first

  • ✓Businesses your members own or work for. Parents, players and committee members are the warmest leads.
  • ✓Local trades and shops whose customers live near the ground: builders, estate agents, garages, cafés, pubs.
  • ✓Businesses already sponsoring local sport: they know the value and have a budget.
  • ✓Larger local employers with a community fund.

Know what you are asking for

Work out the kit cost before you ask. At our prices a squad of 16 in ready-design shirts and shorts is £688, VAT and delivery included, and fully custom £736; our football kit cost guide has more examples. Many clubs ask a sponsor to cover the kit outright, or split it between a main shirt sponsor and smaller back or sleeve sponsors.

What to offer a sponsor

  • ✓The front of the shirt for the main sponsor, the back or sleeve for smaller ones.
  • ✓Posts on the club's social media when the kit arrives and on matchdays.
  • ✓Their logo on the club website and any matchday programme.
  • ✓A team photo in the new kit they can use in their own marketing.
  • ✓A sponsorship that runs for a set number of seasons, so they know what they are paying for.

The pitch

Keep it to one page: who the club is, how many players and families it reaches, what the kit costs, what the sponsor gets and for how long. Then show them the kit. We make a free mockup of your kit with the sponsor's logo in place within 24 hours, so you can send a picture of exactly what their name will look like on the shirt.

Before you agree a placement, check your league's rules on logo size and content in our kit sponsorship rules guide.

Artwork from your sponsor

Ask for the logo as a vector file (.ai, .eps, .svg or .pdf). A screenshot or a photo of a van can be redrawn, but it adds time. Get the sponsor to approve the mockup too, so there are no surprises when the kit arrives.

Kit sponsor questions

How much should a club charge for shirt sponsorship?+
Many grassroots clubs ask the sponsor to cover the cost of the kit, sometimes for two or more seasons. Work out the kit cost first so the ask is clear.
Where does the sponsor logo go?+
The main sponsor usually goes across the front of the shirt, with smaller sponsors on the back or sleeve. Check your league's rules on size.
Can you make a mockup with the sponsor's logo?+
Yes. Send us your kit idea and the sponsor's logo on WhatsApp and we send a free mockup within 24 hours.
Do sponsor logos cost extra?+
No. Sponsor logos are sublimated into the shirt at no extra charge.
