Is a full sleeve or half sleeve cricket shirt better?
Neither is better for every team. Full sleeves cover the arms through a long day in the field and give the traditional look; half sleeves are cooler and lighter for short formats and hot weather. Many clubs order both. At Xipid any cricket shirt can be full sleeve for A$5 more.
Full sleeve or half sleeve at a glance
| Factor | Full sleeve | Half sleeve |
|---|---|---|
| Sun on the arms | Covered all day | Forearms exposed |
| Heat and airflow | Warmer on still, humid days | Cooler, more air to the arms |
| Arm movement | Fabric along the whole arm | Free from the elbow down |
| Look | Traditional, smart in team photos | Modern, sporty |
| Price at Xipid | A$5 more per shirt | The base price |
Both are made the same way: fully sublimated, so the design, names and numbers are dyed into the fabric and run edge to edge down the sleeve as well as across the body.
When full sleeve makes sense
- ✓Long days in the field. Two-day and one-day matches through a summer afternoon mean hours of direct sun on the arms.
- ✓Early starts and late finishes. Morning games and spring and autumn fixtures are more comfortable with covered arms.
- ✓The classic look. Clubs that want a smart, traditional kit for photos and finals often choose full sleeve.
- ✓Fewer extras. A full sleeve shirt covers the arms without a separate arm sleeve.
If sun is the main worry, look at the fabric too. Our Signature collection adds an anti-microbial, UPF 50+ treatment for A$20, worth having for a full day in the field. The best fabric for cricket shirts guide compares every option.
When half sleeve makes sense
- ✓Short formats. For T20s, twilight games and weekend social cricket, half sleeve is lighter and cooler.
- ✓Hot, still afternoons. More air reaches the arms, which helps when the heat is the problem rather than the sun.
- ✓Bowlers and keepers who want freedom. Some players prefer nothing on the forearm.
- ✓Juniors. Half sleeves are easy for kids to move in and are the base price across a big junior squad.

Can a team mix full and half sleeves?
Yes. Mark each player's sleeve on your roster next to their name, number and size, and we make the openers in full sleeve and the rest of the squad in half sleeve in the same design. Everyone still matches in the team photo.
Cricket shirts come with a crew neck, V-neck, polo collar, zip polo or Chinese collar, in set-in or raglan sleeves. Try both sleeve lengths on a 3D model in Kit Studio, or browse our cricket shirt designs.
